Drugs

  • Cocaine: In the first quarter of 2002, crack cocaine sold for $5-$50 per rock, $25 per vial, and $750 per ounce in Oklahoma. Powder cocaine sold for $90 per gram, $550-$900 per ounce, and $18,000-$20,000 per kilogram.
  • Marijuana: Commercial grade marijuana sold for $2-$5 per cigarette, $10 per gram, $75-$90 per ounce, and $500-$600 per pound during the first quarter of 2002 in Oklahoma. Locally grown marijuana is in high demand because of its high quality and because residents prefer to deal with known suppliers.
  • Heroin: Mexican black tar heroin sold for $25 per bag, $200 per bundle (10 bags), $150-$250 per gram, $4,500 per ounce, and $30,000 per kilogram during the first quarter of 2002 in Oklahoma.
  • Methamphetamine: Meth in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma sold for $65-$90 per gram, $350-$1,600 per ounce, and $12,000-$20,000 per kilogram during the first quarter of 2002. Iodine crystals, which are taken for use in meth production, sold for $130- $160 per pound.
  • Club Drugs: Ecstasy tablets sell for $10-$40. MDMA has become increasingly popular among teenagers and young adults in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma area. During the first quarter of 2002, Rohypnol tablets sold for $3-$5 per dose; GHB sold for $10-$20 per dose; LSD sold for $5-$7 per dose; and PCP sold for $10-$15 per dose (retail quantity).
  • Diverted Pharmaceuticals: Pharmacies in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma have reported robberies of OxyContin.

Although drug trends throughout the United States vary year to year, drugs are always a problem. Even when statistics are low for drug abuse, drug related crime, and drug treatment admissions, it is important to remember that it is still a cause for concern.
